A Reader's Journal is sponsoring the 2007 Winter Classics Reading Challenge. All you have to do is read 5 classics during January/February. Here's my list:
- Vanity Fair
- Little Women (unabridged)
- The Great Gatsby
- In Cold Blood
- The Adventures of Augie March
(The last two are, I suppose, "modern classics." And Gatsby's somewhere in between. At any rate, my high school English teacher swore by In Cold Blood as the foremost piece of literary nonfiction. And Augie March by Saul Bellow is supposedly an American Classic, which I'd never even heard of until recently winning a copy from Penguin Books. So there.)

In Cold Blood was chilling. I'm resolved to read Vanity Fair this year as well!
JaneFan, welcome to the classics challenge. I'm so happy you are joining us. So many people rave about The Great Gatsby, but I just couldn't get into it. I look forward to reading your thoughts about all your books.
BTW, your blog title and blog nickname make me smile. Very clever.
